A contract that expires in 2042 will naturally be priced lower than one that runs through 2068 or beyond. That doesn’t make it a bad deal—it depends on your vacation goals, how long you plan to use the points, and your total budget. What Happens When a Contract Expires?
Once a DVC contract reaches its expiration year, ownership ends. You no longer hold points, and the resort may either exit the program or be restructured by Disney. There are no extensions currently available for most properties, with the exception of Old Key West (offered once in 2007). Expiration is non-negotiable and applies equally to direct and resale buyers.
