Understanding the Disney Vacation Club (DVC) Point Chart System
What Are DVC Points?
Disney Vacation Club uses a flexible, point-based system that gives members the freedom to book different resort stays based on their travel preferences—not a fixed week or location. Rather than owning a specific room for a specific week each year, DVC members receive an annual allotment of points that can be used at any DVC resort, during any travel season, and for any room type—depending on availability and how many points the stay requires.
Why Points Offer Flexibility
This structure allows members to customize their vacations year after year. Want to book a studio for a long weekend? Use fewer points. Prefer a three-bedroom Grand Villa for a family reunion? Use more points. Members can borrow from the following year or bank unused points for future use, giving them even more control over how and when they vacation.
How Point Charts Work
Each DVC resort has its own point chart. The number of points required for a stay depends on:
• Travel Season – Disney divides the calendar into seasons such as Adventure, Choice, Dream, Magic, Premier, etc. Each has different point requirements.
• Room Type – Studios require the fewest points. One-, two-, and three-bedroom villas require more.
• View Category – Standard views cost fewer points; premium views such as Savanna, Lake, or Theme Park View cost more.
• Length of Stay and Days of the Week – Weeknights (Sunday–Thursday) cost fewer points than weekends (Friday and Saturday).
Using the Charts to Plan
Members use these point charts to plan vacations in advance. For example, a Standard View Deluxe Studio at Disney’s Polynesian Villas may cost 16 points per night during Adventure Season and 24 points per night during Premier Season. Planning during less busy periods helps stretch your points farther. Conversely, peak times like holidays require more points per night.
